May 2024 Launching of Onderland & website SAAC Amsterdam

On May 12, the book Onderland of Alma Mathijsen was being launched in Sexyland World. Alma is a member of SAAC Amsterdam, the Sexually Abused Artist Collective, founded in 2021 by Jan Hoek. These artists were abused under the age of 18, and make work about this topic. Alma interviewed many members of SAAC and used these stories to write a novel about a special world, Onderland. Alma presents her book to Jan Hoek are on the second picture. FBVG joined SAAC in the fall of 2021 and did a performance during the book launch. She’s also a chapter in the book.

The SAAC website was also launched on this day: www.SAACamsterdam.com.

April 2024 Pitch Pilot Nieuw Bereik AFK

On April 10 FBVG did a pitch for the pilot Nieuw Bereik of Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst, meant for artists in Amsterdam North who never had a financial contribution of the AFK before. FBVG’s pitch was to make a bigger monument, about 80 cm high. A step between the smaller monuments before, and the end goal, a monument of about 7 meters high. The pitch took place in Sexyland World. The pitch was rewarded as a research project.

June 2022 Too Young To Wed on Instagram

Today is the #BeBrave Global Day of Action, which spotlights the systemic corruption that enables the sexual abuse of children and adolescents. @BeBraveGlobal calls on the G7, world leaders, EU governments, and technology companies to make firm commitments to ending childhood sexual violence. Nine adult survivor leaders from G7 countries- India, Bolivia, and Kenya- are spearheading the #BeBrave G7 Petition with Change.org during the Global Survivors Action Summit, taking place on June 26-28.

Child marriage subjects girls to a lifetime of sexual violence. A girl forced into marriage is robbed of her bodily autonomy, and her social networks, her physical and emotional wellbeing, and her right to complete her education are all taken from her. Today, TYTW seeks to amplify these survivors’ courageous voices, ensuring that they are heard and honored in all global decisions that will be made during the Global Survivors Action Summit.

This magnificent painting by Fiona Broese van Groenou (FBVG) honors Boko Haram survivor and TYTW Leadership Scholarship Awardee, Hauwa. FBVG, from Amsterdam, The Netherlands, is also a survivor and has dedicated years to destigmatizing sexual assaut through her series Faces of Rape. “I wanted to honor the ones who came out with their story and in that way, make the subject more discussable,” said FBVG. Learn more about her work at www.fbvg.art.

TYTW calls on you to be a part of the global community dedicated to ending child, early, and forced marriage and childhood sexual violence. Please share the
#BraveMovement, and consider supporting child marriage and sexual violence survivors through the link in our bio.
