Today is the #BeBrave Global Day of Action, which spotlights the systemic corruption that enables the sexual abuse of children and adolescents. @BeBraveGlobal calls on the G7, world leaders, EU governments, and technology companies to make firm commitments to ending childhood sexual violence. Nine adult survivor leaders from G7 countries- India, Bolivia, and Kenya- are spearheading the #BeBrave G7 Petition with Change.org during the Global Survivors Action Summit, taking place on June 26-28.
Child marriage subjects girls to a lifetime of sexual violence. A girl forced into marriage is robbed of her bodily autonomy, and her social networks, her physical and emotional wellbeing, and her right to complete her education are all taken from her. Today, TYTW seeks to amplify these survivors’ courageous voices, ensuring that they are heard and honored in all global decisions that will be made during the Global Survivors Action Summit.
This magnificent painting by Fiona Broese van Groenou (FBVG) honors Boko Haram survivor and TYTW Leadership Scholarship Awardee, Hauwa. FBVG, from Amsterdam, The Netherlands, is also a survivor and has dedicated years to destigmatizing sexual assaut through her series Faces of Rape. “I wanted to honor the ones who came out with their story and in that way, make the subject more discussable,” said FBVG. Learn more about her work at www.fbvg.art.
TYTW calls on you to be a part of the global community dedicated to ending child, early, and forced marriage and childhood sexual violence. Please share the #BraveMovement, and consider supporting child marriage and sexual violence survivors through the link in our bio.

When a painting of the series Faces of Rape is sold, half of the proceeds from the sale will be donated to an organisation the buyer has chosen. Four women of the portrayed Faces of Rape have founded organisations which fight against sexual violence. These are the Military Rape Crisis Center (FoR I, www.militaryrapecrisiscenter.org), Mukhtar Mai Women’s Organisation (FoR II, www.mukhtarmai.org), Nadia’s Initiative (FoR XIII, www.nadiasinitiative.org) and Dr Denis Mukwege Foundation (FoR XI & XXII, www.mukwegefoundation.org). The buyer can choose one of these four organisations but it’s also possible to donate to a research project of the Centrum Seksueel Geweld in The Netherlands, named Early EMDR (www.centrumseksueelgeweld.nl, www.earlyemdr.nl).
